Our lovely breeder, Viv, was making a trip up to Brisbane, so we were very fortunate in not having to travel all the way down to Kingscliff, NSW to pick up our newest bundle of joy :) Viv saved us around 3 hours of driving time (one way) so we were super grateful! :)
We also picked up Mia, Pepper's sister who took part of her long journey up to Bundaberg with us :) She had a sleep-over on Friday night and then we met up with her new owner, Rachel, at the Duck Ponds in Gympie Saturday morning :)
We all got home at around 8:30pm Friday night. Mum was exhausted - she'd come with us on dog-sitting duties - but thankfully they both fell straight to sleep for the whole 3 hour drive home from Brissie...only to be WIDE AWAKE upon arriving at home. Well, they played, and played, and played for HOURS!!!!!!!!!! and I was certainly one tired little possum!
This is a photo of them playing:

This was once they'd finally started to tucker out:

Once they finally went to sleep, they both had trouble settling, and then after many hours of restlessness, Mia decided she was scared of Hiram's crowing (the rooster). As Hiram is a particularly LARGE specimen, his crows are also particularly LOUD, and he starts crowing particularly EARLY...so this little black duck was not getting very much sleep at all!
*Husband says he also had little sleep, but everytime the puppies woke me, he was snoring, so he didnt get much sympathy from me!*
He did, however, play the gentleman, and took the puppies for me for an hour or so, so that I could have a nap (and not trip over the bags hanging from under my eyes)
At 9am Saturday morning we met up with Rachel and handed over Mia :) She was so grateful, but it wasnt a big deal for us and we were happy to help out :) We ended up spending well over an hour catching up with Rachel and answering any questions she had :)
Here's Pepper at the end of the hour playing in the park:

Saturday afternoon my darling *love that man!* took Pepper back to Gymp-town for a Church activity that we were both looking forward to...but I was shattered! So he took Pepper *and became the star of the afternoon* whilst I had a nap and some quality 'alone' time :D
Sunday morning marked another near disaster with regards to those under-eye bags...and we put Pepper into Doggy Daycare with Grandma for the 5 hours we would be at church (3 hours of lessons, 1 hour travelling in, one hour travelling back) but one of our friends had pneumonia so we went to the hospital to visit him (a quick visit!) and Grandma was SO happy to see us back again!!!!!!!!!! :D
Sunday night Pepper was SO worn out by it all! She went to bed VERY early (around 7:30), woke up at 9:30 for a wee outside and then promptly went back to sleep! We (stupidly) didnt want to wake her when we went to bed at 10:30, so at 4:30AM I heard this little yowl from her... I gave Husband a kick and asked him (or maybe I told him?) to take her outside for a wee...only to discover we had missed the boat on that! :( The poor little thing had wet her big bed (which is underneath her little puppy bed to boost it up so I can reach it when Im asleep)...AND her newspaper right next to her big bed...AND had several large piddle-puddles on the carpet in our room too! The poor little bugger must have had wee up to her eyeballs before she burst! To top it off, she had wee all over her too! So whilst Husband (quite happily, I might add) gave her a warm sponge bath, I cleaned up the wee...Guess who got the raw end of THAT deal?!
Today we had several doctors appointments in Nambour, so we packed her Doggy Daycare bag again - which has all the essentials a little doggy needs like:
Her Donkey, her squirrel/rabbit, her pink teething bone, her puppy bed, her sucky-rug (that Viv gave her), Molly's lovey (which she has claimed as her own), Molly's wolf's head/rope (also claimed), newspaper, collar, lead, travel bowl, bottle of water, unopened bottle of puppy milk, ball of turkey mince, and some dry food *and take a breath!*
But...this time she came with us! With Grandma along for the ride too! :) It was a big day, but she's a champ with travelling in the car, and she quickly settled down to sleep the hour-and-a-bit to Nambour :) She was a big hit with everyone we encountered :) She's becoming quite the little socialite! :)
Upon arriving home, Grandma presented her with two of Annie's old doggy jumpers (Annie was Mum's 16 year old Chihuahua who passed away in November last year) and here is a picture of her in it:
Congratulations on Pepper! She looks like she had fun with her sister. She looks like she is going to be lots of fun!! Good luck with the 'training' process. No doubt she is a smartie and won't take long to get the hang of things :)
ReplyDeleteAw the last photo is my FAVOURITE - so cute in her little doggy jumper!! It sure sound like having a new baby in the house with the late hours and all the wees!! :) Happy that you've got her home safe :)
