What a day!!!
Up at 5:30am (thank you, Saphira!), and after a lazy few hours playing with the kidlet we decided to go for a scenic drive up to Samford. We also tied it in with collecting a couple of Mum's eBay wins, so it was a productive day as well :)
We *finally* got home a little after 11am (desperate for a nap!) and fed Bubba a super-quick early lunch...with the hopes of having a lay down.
Michael had already gone to our room, and I was feeding Princess the last of her sandwich before we, too were going to retire for a while...when I received an urgent phone call from Mum. Apparently Mum and Dad were Range Officer-ing at the Shooting Range today, and Dad hot hit in the neck by a riccochet!
He bled profusely, so Mum made a quick call to Nathaniel and his wife Les-Leigh (who is a nurse) and they took him straight into the emergency department. The trouble with living so rurally is that you are basically on your own when it comes to medical emergencies. Ambulances rely on a GPS to get them to the correct address, but GPSs wont work in our area. (Once, Dad and I had to re-direct an ambulance which had driven over 40kms out of its wsy, thanks to the incorrect directions given by the GPS.) So it ends up being WAY faster to drive ourselves into the hospital. (Dad once drove himself to hospital with a broken foot after dropping a log on it...)
Anyway, we were planning to drive up to the farm after church this arvo anyway, so we quickly threw some clothes in a bag and got on the road.
When we reached Gympie, we discovered that they were about to transport Dad down to the Nambour hospital to operate on his neck - it seems there was still a bit of shrapnel in there!!
Its now 8pm, and they just took him downstairs for a CT, and then they'll operate a bit later on tonight.
Dad happily posed for a photo of his war wound:
And was even MORE happy to flaunt his sexy socks/stockings.
More updates later...

Your poor Dad!!! I hope he recovers quickly :) We will keep him in our prayers!!! xo
